Puzzle hunters on a small, patient mission.
Goodwill Puzzles started with a shelf of forgotten jigsaws and a simple question: what if these could find new tables to live on?
Why used puzzles?
Every weekend, thousands of perfectly good jigsaw puzzles land on Goodwill and thrift store shelves. Most of them will sit there for months, get passed over because a piece might be missing, and eventually end up in a landfill. We think that's a waste of beautiful artwork, of quiet Sunday afternoons, of paperboard that still has a lot of joy left in it.
So we started hunting. We visit thrift stores across our area, pick out the puzzles that look promising, take them home, and give each one a careful evaluation. The ones that pass go up for sale here. The rest get donated back or recycled responsibly.
How we verify completeness
The vast majority of the puzzles we sell are complete, but a small number turn up missing a piece or two. Here's the process we run on every puzzle before it gets listed, and how we tell you what we found:
- Count and sort. We empty the box, separate edge pieces from interior pieces, and get a full count against the advertised piece total.
- Assemble or spot-check. For smaller puzzles we assemble the whole thing. For 1000+ piece puzzles we assemble the border and enough of the interior to confirm the pieces match the box image.
- Note the condition. We check for bent, warped, or stained pieces and note any imperfections in the listing. Never hidden in the fine print.
- Re-bag and seal. Pieces get a fresh bag inside the original box before shipping, so nothing gets lost in transit.
If a puzzle turns out to be missing a piece or two, we say so clearly in the listing and price it accordingly. Never hidden, so you can decide if it's still right for you.
